Darren Davis

With over three decades of experience in investment banking and in senior corporate roles, Darren Davis has a career trajectory encompassing a variety of experiences as advisor and as a leader. He currently serves as a Senior Advisor to the Minister of Investment in Saudi Arabia as well as an independent member of the Investment Committee of The Arab Energy Fund, a pan-Arab government investment institution.

Throughout his career, Darren has emphasised a commitment to excellence, a creative approach to problem solving, a focus on strategic perspectives, and an enthusiasm for team building and individual development.

Darren’s career at Ma’aden spanned eight years until 2020. Initially focussed on capital raising, M&A, and JV formation, he progressed to first the CFO position and finally President and CEO where he successfully led the group through a number of challenges.

 

Prior to his time at Ma’aden, Darren had a 20 year career in investment banking based in London and the Middle East. This included periods at HSBC where he built and led the MENA regional Resources & Energy investment banking team providing advice on capital raising and M&A to regional clients; and at Arab Petroleum Investments Corporation (APICORP) where he lead the Gulf project finance team. His London banking career included a range of experiences including structured finance, distressed debt trading, and corporate banking.

Darren is married with five children based in the UK. He splits his time between the UK and Saudi Arabia.
