Dr. Sally Pitkin AO

Sally has more than 25 years’ experience as a Non-Executive Director in the listed, private, public and non-profit sectors, including in international markets, and 20 years’ experience as a non-executive director of ASX200 companies in the retail, leisure and hospitality, and services sectors.

Currently Chair, Super Retail Group and Director of Art Exhibitions Australia, Sally is former Chair of the AICD’s Corporate Governance Committee and Opera Queensland Limited, non-executive director of Link Group, Star Entertainment Group, Billabong International, UQ Holding Limited and a member of the University of Queensland Senate and Trustee of the Queensland Performing Arts Trust.

Sally’s skills in corporate governance, risk management, strategy and business planning, organisational culture and stakeholder engagement have been developed from her legal background, twenty-five years’ experience as a non-executive director and board member, and doctoral research.

She is a former lawyer and senior corporate partner of national law firm, Clayton Utz. Sally holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Governance), a Master of Laws and Bachelor of Laws.

In 2021, Sally was awarded an AO for distinguished service to business, corporate governance standards and performance to the arts, and to the advancement of women.

Sally’s additional awards and recognition include Gold Medal, Australian Institute of Company Directors Queensland, 2020; Excellence in Research Award, Australian Council of Educational Leaders, 2013; Australian Winner, Private Sector Category, Telstra Business Women’s Award, 1999; Law Faculty Outstanding Alumni Award, Queensland University of Technology, 1996.

Sally has a strong reputation for leading through complexity and is recognised for her tenacity, resilience, transparency and collaborative approach. Sally’s significant experience as a non-executive director enables her to share her invaluable insights to mentees to develop strong and effective Board, shareholder, analyst and media relationships. Sally has deep expertise in working with regulators and is passionate about developing Mentee’s individual leadership by providing a confidential sounding board as well as providing new and experienced perspectives.
