Sir Tom McKillop is a highly experienced chair and CEO of FTSE 100 companies with over 25 years of international senior leadership experience. This has allowed Sir Tom to accrue a vast multi-industry knowledge in pharmaceuticals, healthcare, biotechnology, financial services, energy, chemicals.

 

Sir Tom McKillop was previously CEO of Astra Zeneca, Chair of the Royal Bank of Scotland and a Non-Executive Director of bp plc. He is currently Vice-Chair of Almirall SA, an international pharmaceutical company headquartered in Spain.

 

Sir Tom McKillop began his career at ICI where he held various positions before being appointed Technical Director. In 1992 he was appointed deputy CEO and in 1994 he became CEO of Zeneca Pharmaceuticals, leading the merger of Astra and Zeneca in 1999, and becoming CEO of AstraZeneca plc until retiring at the end of 2005. Until 2009, he was Chair of the Royal Bank of Scotland and a Non-Executive Director of bp plc.

 

More recently he has held the position of Chair of Evolva Holdings SA, a Swiss listed biotech company, and he has served on the boards of Alere Inc, an international diagnostics company with its headquarters in Massachusetts, USA, and UCB SA, a biopharmaceutical company based in Brussels. He has been Chair or Non-Executive Director of various other healthcare companies.
