Dr. Rob Routs has nearly two decades of international senior leadership experience. He acquired this from his various CEO and Chair positions at AEX, Euronext 100 and other private companies. This level of experience has allowed him to gain a multi-industry knowledge in chemicals, energy, oil and gas, and renewables.

 

Dr Rob Routs was previously President and CEO of Shell Canada Products Ltd. He is currently the Lead Director for the Board of Directors of ATCO Ltd and an Emeritus member of the Economic Development Board of Singapore International Advisory Council. Rob was also the former Chair of Royal DSM N.V., and served as the Chair of Aegon N.V.

 

Rob has substantial experience in the refining and chemical industry, with a strong focus on operational safety and sustainable operations to reduce the industry’s impact on the environment.

Rob has spent most of his working life with Royal Dutch Shell Group and during his career he was responsible for the global refining, chemical, marketing, trading and renewable businesses.

 

He added direct accountability for oil sands mining and coordinated the Group’s climate-change and alternative-fuel initiatives. He retired from the position as a Group Executive Director and member of the Executive Committee of Shell at the end of 2008 to start his Non-Executive Director career. In this capacity he served on a multitude of listed global company boards in very diverse businesses like financial services, life sciences, engineering services and transportation across Europe, the Americas and Asia.
